There is, but generally I dont change things unless the savings are greater than 15%, and these calcs are beyond the capabilities of a spreadsheets usually done in maplesim or matlab these can incorporate every process from design,engineering,construction & referencing even time. There is a need for optimizing and comparing data in home designing/building, hardly a week goes by, where someone asks, is there an cheaper/cost effective, efficient, faster,etc alternate?
But having said this most apps started as spreadsheets. if you are going to use it daily for work and business there are probably better solutions in apps and hardcoding. The data is easily deleted/corrupted in cells.ģ.Microsoft excel hasnt really made many recent advances, compared to other programs so engineers and accountants have moved on. They calculate top->down in a structured sequence, so if you make an error at the top it generally gets carried all the way down.Ģ. They do have a number of limitations that you need to be aware ofġ. Some of these are also in imperial measurements so take that into consideration.
I've picked up a few others too for just kitchens and bathrooms etc but I don't have a clue where I got them from.
I run quite a good one myself but it was a paid for spreadsheet and ya ain't getting that one. These are not comprehensive spreadsheets and are basic but are very customisable so can be easily adapted to your own needs. Anyone with the older Office products will either have to upgrade or download the translator from Microsoft to read. These are mostly in Excel ( xlsx ) format for Excel 2007 and newer. I've found a couple of handy free spreadsheets and checklists for anyone contemplating building a new house or doing some renovations.
